About Me
I am a songwriter and musician living in Alameda, California. Over the years I have written and recorded a collection of albums and songs, on which I have played all the instruments, arranged, produced, and engineered. I sing these songs, also, but maybe just because i'm the only guy in the band. In other words, it's my fault, and all complaints will be re-directed to my mother.
My latest batch of songs is titled "BLEEP", and I would best describe it as eclectic/electric. A lot of electric guitars with some synth and keyboards for color.
The albums "KABOOM" and "CROONICLE" are a departure from my psychedelic default setting, hovering around the country/rock genre, or something like that. An acoustic guitar is the foundation of these songs, with layers of electric guitars, and a constant reverbed organ as accompaniment. (i love playin' me organ, i do)
On just about every other batch of songs, I settle back into my kaleidoscopic musical love seat.
Q AND A SESSION......................
Q: Scott...........
A: What?
Q: Who are your musical influences?
A: Well, it's a long list, but The Beatles are at the top. They have been a great influence on me, both as a songwriter
and musician. A lot of the classic rock would make the list. 70's music, including The Eagles and The Pink Floyd Band.
Some of the disco that was done well, like K.C. and the Sunshine Band's music. 80's stuff up until about 1985. Modern country as well as early country with the simplicity of the arrangements. It's a really long list.
Q: What music do you listen to lately?
A: I listen to the radio often, and always have. Just about every kind of music at your fingertips, and almost free. There are always some local college radio stations that play music you may never hear anywhere else.
Q: What kind of guitar(s) do you have?
A: I have a blue one, and a black one, and a blue one, and another blue one.
Q: Which one do you like the most?
A: The blue one.
Q: What's your favourite colour?
A: Bleu.
Q: What would you like to accomplish musically?
A: I want Burt Bacharach's job. Just write songs and give them to people to sing and take the tunes to a higher level. I'm a bit of a band all rolled into one, so I can play the instruments on the recordings and go from there. That would be lovely.
Q: What are you doing for the apocalypse?
A: You mean the Mayan prediction of the apocalypse on 12-21-2012?
Q: Yeah, that one.
A: Well, just like the Y2K thing, it will be THAT DAY in Asia hours before it is here, so i'll wait to see what happens there before I do anything serious. But at the end...of....the.....day.....I will probably watch from the side of a hill with a pretty girl and a picnic basket.
(UPDATE: It was a helluva picnic)
Q: Would you like to own a hovercraft?
A: Yes. Yes I would.
